2 Axis Phone positioner Designed.

I have to say that I am very much looking forward to where the design for the next OE adapter is headed. There are three main parts to the adapter and so far, the first two have a design direction that so far seems to be the perfect next step to improving the current design. I cannot wait to have this next gen adapter available to you all but for now, we just have this very rough prototype design that although not beautiful now, has all the functions that will make this next gen adapter great!

This week I’ve worked on the phone positioner and what you see here is the mechanism to rotate the axis that the phone will sit on, along with another adjustment for the distance from the eyepiece. These adjustments are possible with two fine adjustment knobs that will position the phone while the phone is connected to the eyepiece, which I think will be a great and important feature.

Next week I will begin designing the phone clamp which will be the third and final major component of the OE adapter. If all goes well with this part of the design, the next step will be to cram all the mechanics into a tight and beautiful design! We’ll see how it all goes and of course stay tuned for updates!
